Company Intro：

THW&I is a small (sole proprietorship) technical writing company that specializes in writing usability features for documentation in urban planning, government and business. The other foot is in publishing as an indexer and editor. Usability features include indexes, abstracts, glossaries, information architecture and other features to make documentation more usable for a targeted reading audience. When I'm not working on a project, I spend my time networking, talking to city planners online and meeting up with them at conferences.

Instructions：

See the attachments; my logo scheme for the last decade -- the book resembles documentation, while the top hat is a nod to the City Beautiful Movement in urban planning during the turn of the 20th Century. I want to maintain the same color scheme with the same shades of purple and green, along with the gray and black. I need a logo that's more "slick" and less kitschy and cartoonish than what I currently have (which is clip art I modified). I'd like it to emulate strength, professionalism, and reliability in a classic, timeless motif....my clients are city planners, government officials, and publishers -- a rather serious, professional, and well-behaved group. I'd prefer to keep the presence of the top hat in the logo, but it can be toned down a bit -- and the presence of "documentation" also in the logo -- see what your creativity can do! I'd like a macro version of the logo with the company name, but the logo icon should be able to also stand alone to identify the company.
