This contest is still wide open!
Don't get too caught up on the idea of "gear" meaning something mechanical.
Remember: this is nomad / traveller gear in the context of equipment / useful items you'd take with you on your trip.
Still plenty of time to submit your best ideas... I'm looking forward to seeing what else you guys can do! :)
