Company Intro
We are a university-based applied research and development center that works with industry to solve technical challenges across several domains, including: Electromechanical Systems, Automation, Robotics, Composite Materials, Laser Processing, Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing), Smart Manufacturing, and Manufacturing Process Development.

Instructions
The logo should have a transparent background so that it can be used effectively on any media. We would like to use the logo both in full color and one color applications.

We work in several areas (as listed below), and we would like the logo to incorporate as many of these areas as can be made recognizable without affecting the clarity and impact of the design:
1. Layered Manufacturing (3D printing) – layers of material turning into a single thicker object (which may be curved or flat) – as this iconifies both additive manufacturing and composites lay up
2. Electrical – could be symbolized by circuit board traces (search google images for “circuit board traces” for examples)
3. Mechanical – could be gears or rack and pinion (search google images for “gear illustration” or “gear rack and pinion illustration”)
4. Computer program – could illustrate as code, perhaps a field of “1” and “0” ‘s or hexadecimal numbers (search google images for “binary” or see http://www.electronics-tutorials.ws/binary/hexadecimal-numbers.jpg?81223b for hexadecimal example) This is less important, yet cross-cutting for nearly all that we touch.
5. Robot arm or gripper in a greatly simplified form – search google images “robot arm gripper” or “robot arm” for inspiration)
6. Process piping – some of our work is in chemical processes – (search google images: “chemical process illustration”)
7. Laser/material interaction – not a major focus of the center but used in additive manufacturing – could iconify with a beam ending at a starburst?
8. Manufacturing process flowchart - some of the above could be iconified in a process flowchart.
Hello, We apologize to all for delayed responses and for starting all ratings at 1 star with the idea of iterating to higher and higher values as the 'selection by committee' process proceeded. It unfortunately did not proceed as planned due to some internal delays. If there is a way to extend the contest to allow more time for reaction to the most recent ratings and comments, we'd be happy to do this. Many thanks to all for some very creative work.

    Hi All,
We should have picked 3 finalists before tomorrow. There's just a lot of great work here - very hard to pick - especially with a group of people on our side weighing in (each at different time).
