BRIEF
DESIGNS (422)
- Logo Name:
- Brookings (primary text) Oregon (smaller text)
- Company Intro:
- The City of Brookings, Oregon is a welcoming coastal community located on Oregon’s southern coast, known for its stunning natural beauty, mild climate, and small-town charm. Our city is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, rivers, and forests — a place where outdoor recreation and scenic landscapes define the experience. This logo will represent the City of Brookings across official uses — signage, vehicles, embroidery on shirts and hats, stationery, and online — but it should also reflect the inviting spirit of a destination community. We want it to resonate with both residents and visitors, capturing our identity as a friendly, nature-rich coastal town that blends civic pride with tourism appeal.
- Instructions:
- We’re looking for a clean, timeless logo that reflects Brookings’ coastal and natural character while remaining professional for civic use. The design should feel balanced between official and inviting — something that looks equally appropriate on city vehicles, letterheads, and visitor materials. Key elements to consider: A stylized shape or emblem that hints at ocean waves, sun, and trees — representing our connection to nature and the coast. Possibly add a fish or rock formations such as sea stacks or an arch (photo attached of local arch). A modern, minimal design with clean lines that’s easy to reproduce on print, signage, and embroidery. A color palette centered around blues, with green and yellow accents for warmth and contrast. Overall tone: Welcoming and scenic — not corporate or overly busy. Evokes the beauty, calm, and authenticity of life on the southern Oregon coast. Designs or Styles to Avoid: Overly complex or detailed graphics that won’t reproduce well on small items (like embroidery or vehicle decals). Cartoonish or clip-art style imagery — we want something polished and professional. Busy scenic illustrations with too many elements; simplicity and balance are key. Dark, heavy outlines or harsh contrasts that take away from the friendly, coastal feel. Overused civic imagery (lighthouses, anchors, seagulls, bridges or crests) No palm trees, we are part of the pacific northwest. Our trees are large evergreens. Fonts that feel too formal or too playful; the typography should be approachable, legible, and timeless. The attached examples for Brookings are ideas staff came up with using AI along with some examples from other communities that we find interesting. The B shape border is not necessary in development of the new logo.
