Expert Recommendations For Your New Logo

Professional Designers share the first thing you should do with your new logo!

Storefront 150x172When you are starting a new business there can be an overwhelmingly long to-do list. Do you have a strategy in place? Are you prioritizing what to do or fielding problems as they come? A. A. Milne, writer of Winnie-the-Pooh and various children’s poems, said that “Organizing is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it is not all mixed up.”
With a new logo comes many options on how to use it and where to put it. This certainly adds its own to-do list, so how do you keep it from mixing everything up? We’ve asked some professional designers about their thoughts on what you should do first with your new logo. What if you want to start out with a bang? They also talk about the most interesting ways they’ve seen logos used. Maybe you can incorporate one of them into your business? I’ll let you decide, here’s what they had to say:

“The most important thing you can do for your logo is give it an audience by displaying it in the most common way for your type of business. Get it printed, wear it, make it a brand.
The most unique way I’ve seen a small business apply a logo was engraving their logo at the bottom of a pair of flip flops. They were a bar & grill restaurant by the beach, perfect idea to get the attention of nearby clientele.”

“After you have a new logo, immediately announce it via print media (newspapers), electronic media or on social networking. It will be remembered quicker by the public this way. A few months ago a company came to me and wanted to expand their brand. They had been established for a few years without an online presence, so I suggested creating a Facebook Fan Page and an official website to introduce their products. After about a month, they achieved over 800 “Likes” on their Fan Page – that’s 800 more people that knew their company existed.”

“It may seem a little old fashioned, but I think getting professionally designed business cards is first priority. Word of mouth is still the best form of advertisement. So when you run into someone while you are out, finish up the conversation by handing them a business card. It’s like sealing the deal and showing that you’re serious about your business.

Wrap. Your. Car. If your business includes a company vehicle, be it a smart car, a work truck or a van, get a professionally designed wrap on it. Putting a wrap on a vehicle is advertising for you night and day. They can be bright, flashy, and feature your logo in, quite literally, a big way.  I’ve designed and installed a few, they last for years when laminated properly (6-8yrs roughly) and draw attention to your company wherever you go.”

“When you get your new logo, the first and most important thing to do is spread it out as many ways as you can; put it on your blog, website, Facebook, Twitter, etc. The more people seeing your logo the more power and soul your logo has earned. It’s important to give a soul to your logo, treat it like your own blood and you will get a strong logo!

Applying design into business cards may be a common thing after you get your logo because it’s a strong item to get your business to the next level, but designing a Unique Business Card is a different thing! You can make your business card as unique as you can imagine. A hologram or unique cutting of your business card may give better application of your logo. More importantly here at 48HoursLogo there are many designers that have the potential to do that!”

“Distributing brochures with souvenirs to people. I agree word of mouth is still the best form of advertisement, but with a brochure you don’t need much explaining in detail about the type of business that you do.  Plus the souvenir’s function is that the person who receives it feels like they’re getting a gift, it will be remembered by them. So automatically the person will easily remember about offers from your business products too.”
