Logo will mainly be on a black website header, so try to keep colors a lighter shade that is easily visible against a black background. Logo needs to look clean and clear when size down as small as 300px x 60px.
If there are any dog images that look sophisticated or wear eye glasses, that may be an idea....but not at all necessary.
