BRIEF
DESIGNS (1)
- Logo Name:
- mEksK
- Company Intro:
- Athabasca University’s Faculty of Science and Technology is developing a mobile application (mEksK) the main purpose of which is to facilitate autonomous fieldwork activities in the absence of direct supervision from an assigned instructor. The app can be used by anyone, and is a free resource—it’s even available in an off-line format so that the extensive information does not burn through people's data plans.

The app is set up so that instructors are able to add fieldtrips in any discipline that studies the natural and/or human environment (e.g. geography, geology, ecology, anthropology, urban studies) over time. And ultimately, we would like to see fieldtrips across Canada, and even internationally. But for now, the goal is to have students in Alberta, Canada, understand in the field the theory they learned through introductory courses in Physical Geography.

Please contact us if you have any questions or need more details about the application.
- Instructions:
- We need a logo for our mobile application.

----------------
UPDATE
Make sure that the concept of fieldtrip to make observations of the natural and human environments is well conveyed by the logo. Thanks.
---------------

The name mEksK is a contraction of "Moveblaj Ekskurso" (which means mobile excursion in Esperanto/International language).

We are quite open regarding design. However, please avoid anything that is too cluttered, cumbersome, heavy; also, restrain from using the iconic yellow bus in the logo design!

Regarding the application name, you can use either mEksK or mEKsK, depending on what you think looks better to you.

Regarding the colors, please refer to the following document with the colour palettes of Athabasca University: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zskj5rwfqpdd8f2/color palettes.pdf?dl=0
We were thinking about using the primary/secondary or tertiary palette, unless you have a better suggestion.

!!UPDATE!! Please have a look at the tertiary palette as well (on page 2). The colors of our logo do not have to be limited to those of our university logo. You could also come up with your own choice of colors if you have a great concept in mind.
Reference Samples:
- DThese are the color palettes we would prefer to use.
- DI looked at this first batch of submissions and even though I find most of them quite beautiful, I wonder if there could be a way for the logo to reflect better the concept of fieldtrip for exploring and learning about the physical (natural) and human environment. I find the attached example quite inspirational for that. For our logo, it could be, of course, stylized.
- DA guy with binoculars can illustrate the concept of doing field observations (which is the main activity in a fieldtrip).
- DExample of stylized mountains:
