The venue in Cairns has a strong environmental theme and Cairns itself is the primary access point for the sparkling Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Tropical Rainforest. Therefore, including the 'environment' is a strong deign theme input.
The name of the conference is QCON14 (eg. Queensland Conference 2014) and the theme is 'repositioning for a sustainable future'.

All designers, thanks for your entries so far. Please note that whilst I explained what the full version of QCON is (ie. Queensland Conference), if you wish to use the full conference title it is actually 'Queensland Surveying and Spatial Conference'. You could also use 'Qld Surveying and Spatial Conference'. Note that the use of the full conference name is not an essential design element.
I will commence grading logos shortly.
